Walkstreets is the first app for pedestrian navigation through the city. We don’t just guide you on the map – we build comfortable routes along the greenest or quietest streets, as well as streets with the most fresh air.
Just enter the address — our app will show several options on the map to get from one point to another. Walkstreets is also suitable, if you just want to take a walk: for 30, 60 or 90 minutes you can walk along selected route and return to the initial point.
We work on the basis of our own developed routing algorithm that regards different parameters for constructing the most comfortable path for pedestrians.
For example, our app always seeks to avoid repair works on the streets of Moscow.
To build routes along the greenest streets we use data on the greening of Moscow by Greenpeace Russia, for the quietest streets — a mathematic model on the basis of OpenStreetMap objects, and Aerostate data for selection of streets with the most fresh air.
Our app works so far only in Moscow, but soon will appear in other Russian cities. Walkstreets is the Urbica studio project. We are a team of designers, developers and data analysts from Moscow.
